With the first chapter initiated in the 1950s by Eduardo Lacerda Machado, parent architect, the studio set out on it’s story path. Later, in 1976, Rui Lacerda Machado joined, the son architect, with a conscious mission of perpetuating the work done so far and designing many others. Thirty years later, the third generation to prove the thesis.
Diogo Lacerda Machado, grandchild architect, joins the team strengthening the family roots and proudly following the architectural lineage. Diogo Lacerda together with a team of young Associate Architects now form the RDLM team, based in Espinho (Portugal), that already has a presence in Lisbon, a partner in Greece and soon entering Mozambique as well as Angola.
Diogo Lacerda, executive director of RDLM since 2014, graduated in 2006 from Lusíada University in Porto, having done his last year in Venice, IUAV, under the ERASMUS program. He worked between 2006 and 2009 at Navarro Francisco Mangado in Pamplona and Madrid, having participated as a collaborator and coordinator in several internationally awarded projects.
He was a consultant for architectural projects in Mozambique and Angola. RDLM, award winning in several projects, has comes into the limelight in recent years by co-creating, with Estúdio 41, cultural centers in Nova Friburgo and Cabo Frio in Brazil, as well as co-creating, with Francisco Mangado, the requalification of the Espinho Railway channel project, ReCaFe, currently under construction.
At the moment, in addition to the CEO Diogo Lacerda, the team is made up of architects trained at the best Portuguese architecture colleges, that have a high focus on quality and maintain alive the vision and motto we defend. We also work as highly qualified partners, which allow us to complement our projects and face all challenges that arise.
